Cemetery Wanderings

Saturday we rambled around Greenwood Cemetery.

We visited Grandpa's grave. He would have been 91 on Tuesday.

Then we explored some very cool and some very old headstones and statuary.

So peaceful. And somehow calming.

Dia de los Muertos

Happy Dia de los Muertos!

This won't be a long post. I don't want to steal my sister's thunder. And this is ALL her. (I'll post a LINK to her blog with the complete story.) Halloween has become a VERY big deal in our family the last few years. For anyone on our Christmas card list you'll know what I'm talking about. It's not unheard of to find us discussing costumes in February. This year has been different. With Dad in the midst of chemotherapy we didn't know if he would feel up to dressing up. As of the week before Halloween we didn't have a costume and figured we'd just skip it this year.

D.D. came up with the idea. Steele was on board as long as he could have a cool hat. My makeup alone took over two hours! But what a FANTASTIC job! My sister is a makeup artist, and she really demonstrated what she can do. Especially what she was able to do on herself!

I LOVE the way my teeth turned out! And my eyes! At the end of the night I was reluctant to remove my makeup. I wanted to revel in it as long as possible. And yes, we did our photo shoot at the cemetery.

THANK YOU D.D. for being the creative force behind my favorite Halloween costume ever!

p.s. we really missed Dad and Mom

Fall Day

I've said it before, but Fall is my very most favorite time of year. I can't wait for Daylight Savings time to end. I love the earlier evenings when its brisk outside. I love to layer & get very excited when jacket weather begins. (Not that it ever really gets that cold here in LA.) My weekend plans? I'll put on a few layers, maybe a scarf, and take a walk through a cemetery, or go on location and do some painting, and then I'll come home and bake something delicious in the oven. And if I had a new yarn craft to work on while dinner cooks, that would be the perfect end to a beautiful Fall day.
